Hi karana and all readers of these post

I had posted previously about the prices of high quality ore and how they are way off to what i remember from doing human cultural smithing on live.

I have also posted that the current prices on our server reflect what live server admins did to combat an exploit which generated way to much plat for a relativly low skill smithing item.

I again will not post this exploit here in hopes that my evidence will help change the price of hq ore to what is supposed to be at for our current time line. The expliot can fixded disabling one recipie which no one uses.

Using Way back machine i was able to find the earliest refrence to what High quality ore should be priced at.

http://web.archive.org/web/20020602194421/http://www.eqtraders.com/prices/smithing.htm

info:

Small brick of high Qualliy ore: ??? no info at this web page

Large Brick High Quality ore: 17pp 2 Gold 5 sp 7 cp

Block of HIgh Qaulity ore: 51pp 9 gold 8 sp 5 cp

THIS IS FOR ORE THAT IS DROPED ONLY. YOU CAN FIND IT ON MERCHANT LIKE SOL A GNOME AREA, LAVASTORM DRUID RING AND OTHER MERCHANTS IN THE AREA OR MERCHANT NEAR PERMAFROST.

You can see the cost as researched by eqtraders.com back on jun 2 2002.

As refrence material eqmac had these prices when i was playing their a few months back. granted they are lock at pop.

Kinda doing necro, but the high quality ore price are still wrong, they are the same as one live while they were much cheaper back on classic/velious:

here is a link on zam that display the price in november 2002:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=14470#m103712562736691
and a latter post in february 2005 that talk about the price nerf resulting in the price we see on live and (as of yet) on P1999:
http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=14470#m110911252950465

also, in the "Economical smith v3.0" from april 2003 in page 39:
"First, high quality ore is expensive. One large brick of high quality ore costs over 17pp and yields two rings, which makes each ring cost a little under 9pp each."

I'd like that too, it's definitely possbile but I find strange that price when from 51p for one time, dropped then to 17p then later reverted to 51p for the block. wouldn't be too suprizing but the ornate armor is more or less unusable seen it cost more or less the same as fine plate to make...

I looked again through all my saved files could not find the links. Ill try to find the patch notes that have the across the board price drops of trade skill items.

Like many of you i do remember high quality ore being lower price , BUT that was done at later time(than this server time line). The price of almost all trade skill supplies / items where dropped which lead to a VERY BIG EXPLOIT from a very low Black smith skill item that sold for a LOT more than the cost of materials when combined.

I know of this exploits because a guild mates told me about it at the time. I was one of the guilds blacksmiths. IT got to the point that people where smithing for like 8hrs straight making a lot of plat. NO it was not 1million plat as some rumors put it. 15k to 20k in 4hrs was doable with right support. The exploit was fixed within 3 days by simple patch which raised the price of all high quality ore to what is stands at now on live servers.

The price change to trade skill supplies happened after this I do not remember exactly when. these HQ merchant being added combined with lowered prices of high quality ore lead to the exploit and subsequent fix.
