Alignment.. even without roleplaying
Maybe I've done too much AD&D in my youth but it's funny how in my brief time here I pretty much put people in the traditional alignment box, even though few are actual RPers. Anyways.. I thought I'd throw this out for discussion as it was a slow work day for me. Where do you or those you know fit on the alignment scale?
Chaotic Evil -The point is ladies and gentlemen that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Lawful Evil - Son, we live in a world that has raids, and those raids have to be hit by guilds with DPS. Who's gonna do it? You? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for those lesser guilds, and you curse mine. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That those raids, while tragic, probably saved characters. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves this server. Chaotic Neutral - . "Needless to say I have some unusual habits, yet all these socially acceptable people can’t wait to pick up hammers and publicly smash their food to bits. Normal people are so hostile." Lawful Neutral - The law doesn't... make mistakes. Chaotic Good - When you're on your own, behind enemy spawns, no artillery, no air strikes, no hope of an evac, you don't fight dirty. You do things that make dirty look good. Lawful Good - There's a lot of ugly things in this world, son. I wish I could keep them all away from you. That's never possible. p.s. This is solely for satirical fun. |
Not quite EverQuest, but gaming.
http://files.g4tv.com/ImageDb3/25636...ment-Chart.jpg I think most of the prominent posters on the forums fall into the "evil" category. |
I like the subtle Chaotic Stupid :)

I've always been fascinated to compare series and alignments. This got me searching. A lot of these make you think, esp if you are a fan of the series in question.

Not sure if Neutral Evil, Chaotic Neutral, or Chaotic Good. Leaning towards evil though.

Haha! I love the gamer/startrek/ghostbusters comparisons. Neutral Good all the way.

The Star Trek one is neat, I haven't seen that. I like the Rick Moranis Ghostbusters one.. Wonder where Dark Helmet from Spaceballs would fall

Lawful neutral is like the ACLU reluctantly defending neo-nazis, they support institutionalized law no matter if it's for good or evil.
A drug dealer that sells pot and psychadelics is Chaotic Neutral, since they're just looking to make a profit against institutionalized law but not really hurting anyone. A meth dealer or psychotic murderer would be Chaotic Evil. Batman tapping everyone's phones and being an illegal vigilante makes him Chaotic Good. The Westboro baptist church holding their faggot signs at funerals but technically completely protected under the law is Lawful Evil, especially since they often do so long enough for someone to attack them and then use the law to sue the attacker. Another interpretation is the mafia which has it's own internal government, traditions and code of honor, however this conflicts with their disregard of societal law. Thus, in most settings lawful evil characters exist mostly in evil/corrupt kingdoms and institutions Typical knight that fights for righteousness and swears loyalty to his kingdom is Lawful Good. Don't know much about superman, but gonna go ahead and say it's like superman? Neutral good, neutral evil and true neutral are pretty vanilla. good guy, bad guy.... usually repsects the rules...occasionally breaks them.... whatever. |
