Classic Pally shield and 2hander
 

Ok, so I'm making a paladin and I'm giving him a set of Ro armor and a Ghoulbane. Classic pally gear. Now, I'm wondering what shield/2hander would be classic for a PALADIN. Obviously soulfire, but besides that. What do you guys think. Ive got him a cracked darkwood shield already but I'm trying to think what other shield would be more Paladin specific classic gear. Not that it should be pally only or anything. Same thing for the 2handed weapon. Not sure what to get.

Thoughts?

P.S. My first character on live was a Dwarf Paladin. That's why I'm making this guy. XD

Quest Aegis of Life. Then, uh... Classic (meaning no kunark?) Mithril 2hander I suppose.

Crested Mistmoore Shield as the person above said, was quite a classic paladin/SK shield.

Among other good options:

Clay Guardian Shield - 25AC/50HP - 1k~
Sarnak Battle Shield - 25AC/40HP/5STR+STA/10SV M/F/C - 7k~

Beyond those there is nothing really worth mentioning that is feasibly attainable for an alt. Personally my alt uses Clay Guardian Shield. I think SBS is pretty damn near the best outside of dragon shields (and the one I am about to mention). Also there is the Shield of the Stalwart Seas which is Erudite only.

Aegis of Life is really more of a back-slot item.

Sword of the Morning pretty cheap and good weap.

Oh and 2hander. Don't bother.

Feel free to quest your way towards SoulFire -> FA -> FD. But other than that, IMO, don't bother with 2handers. You are far more survivable with sword/board and if you aren't tanking in a group you really aren't bringing much to the group as a 2hs DPS paladin (until they introduce cats on the moon + Slay Undead)

If you are going classic, get a mith 2hander. If you are doing Kunark then go with a Baton of Faith (2hb) or an Arbitors Combine Greatsword. Both are comparable and both are dirt cheap. BoF has a better ratio (30/40) but the Greatsword has 15 wis (30/43).

If you intend on soloing get a 2hander. If you intend on grouping, 2 handed is pretty useless.

AC is borked here and most paladin agro is spells so 2handed weapons work well.

Perhaps I am working off how it should work...

AC being borked does devalue shield AC. Also broken weapon/cast timing also increases the value of 2hander for hybrid.

If they manage to fix the hybrid casting bug then that would make 2h much less valuable (atleast slow 2h).
