Default VeliousUIV3 alpha traansparency

I would like to increase the opacity of my windows in VeliousUIV3. I'm not satisfied with the results of playing around with the in-game functions.

I've been dinking around the XML files and I can't find any obvious area that I could tweak to increase the alpha opacity.

Any UI gurus out there got any ideas?

You can't change the alpha by right-clicking the windows?

The alpha transparency is not handled in the XML files. It's done in the UI_<character> INI files.

When I move the slider it does gets lighter, but 100% is actually about 60% transparency and so I still cant see light text against light backgrounds like deserts.

If I move the slider to max opacity I shouldn't be able to see through the window at all, but this isn't the case.

I don't want max opacity and I'm aware that I can do that by setting a solid color background, but I would like to make it darker than it is.

Maybe you're looking to edit the "wnd_bg_light_rock" and "wnd_bg_dark_rock" files in the velious ui folder. For example if you copy the light_rock file and rename it to wnd_bg_dark_rock all the background will be the same light shade.

Do you have both the normal and faded levels as the desired opacity?

This did the trick. I'm using the dark file for both entries. TYVM =)

Reverted to original backgrounds and wound up doing this:

I edited veliousuiv3\EQUI_ChatWindow.xml
<Screen Item = "ChatWindow">
<DrawTemplate>WDT_RoundedNoTitle2</DrawTemplate>

This template uses the wnd_bg_dark_rock.tga as the foreground.

Now my other windows are at a good alpha level without making item icons and spell icons being translucent. And the chat window is dark enough that I dont have to make all the other windows too dark.

Not sure why the default template is so light when the slider is at max. Perhaps it's because I use a low gamma setting.
