Default Remake of P1999

How do you guys think an updated graphics version of EQ in 1999 would do? Maybe some small adjustments but im thinking: live trading, harsh death punishment(probably the same looting corpse/rezzing system), limited teleporting (so u can enjoy the cool nooks and crannies of the world), maybe basic aa's, updated but similar aggro system (more realistic vision). Everything about the zone design of everquest is amazing. Maybe it'ss just my nostalgia kicking in, but i feel like a modern version would be so dope-- no modern mmos match the danger/adventure aspect of eq.

Good luck prying the code out of the devs.

If this guy can do this with Unreal Engine then you can remake classic EQ the same way. Just sounds like years of work for very little or no pay off.

I'd play it. Someone do it. I know someone is converting EQ to unity and once there, it probably would just be a matter of getting an artist to make it look good.

Yep, those were done by Xevin who was inspired by toddfx, who did the ones you posted. Here are their original threads - Xevin's: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=21477, toddfx's: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=18950. Although Xevin's are also brilliant, Todd Kumpf is probably the single most talented person to ever partake in P99. His work is ubiquitous - chances are everyone here has seen something he's worked on whether it was a hi-tech Lenovo commercial or some 3D art in a movie or advertisement. He mainly used EverQuest as a source of inspiration and did tons of 3D renders - if there was ever going to be an EverQuest remake (let's be real, there won't - support Pantheon instead), Todd is the guy you'd want to hire for concept art, visual direction, and 3D animation. Here are some other EQ-related things he made:
