Ranger vid! Aboutten the Bow Ranger!

Hello everyone! Meet my new ranger Aboutten. In this vid I talk a bit about rangers, stats and show off some bow kiting while hunting in Oasis.

After some thought I think the reason my attack rating goes up so high is that my one hand slashing skill is maxed for my level and thats why I get such a boost in attack power. When I swapped to the blunt weapon I have 0 skill so i get no boost. I bought a rusty one hand slashing weapon with no stats and got the same boost so the dex did not give the boost. So sad! Now when I take off my bow I get no change in attack power and thats with max bow skill for my level. I wonder if bow attack power and melee weapon attack power are different and if so then how do I tell what my bow attack power is?

Is it confirmed that STR affects bow damage and not DEX like the wiki says?

Also does anyone know what affects your chance to hit?

One last thing! OBS did not pick up GINA for some reason. I think I need to add it in OBS. Ill figure that out on my next vid.

Your melee weapon skill has no effect on your archery.
STR affects melee weapon damage. I don't know about archery but I don't think so. DEX affects your crit chances, if I recall correctly.
Your archery skill is the main 'to hit' determinant.

I understand that melee skill dose not affect archery but if I understand correctly it raises your shown attack rating. From what I am reading your shown attack rating is for main hand only and not archery or off hand. So how do you tell your true archery attack rating? Dex should increase your crit chance and it affects procs but I dont know in what way. Ive read different things about dex and procs.

One thing I didnt take into consideration is the Offense skill in regards to attack power.

Heres what I would like to know,

Ive read so much different stuff on what I have listed and they seem to conflict.

Heres what I would like to know,
-What affects archery damage str or dex?
Both. Str affects your mean archery damage by increasing your max hit dmg. I've done 200 hits and averaged the non-crits with str gear on and off, and there's a small noticeable difference (1.7% for me) from 25 extra strength.
Dex affects your mean archery damage by upping your chance to do critical hits. Criticals appear to be adding up to 200% damage to a bow hit for me, meaning the total hit from the crit is 3x normal. As your chance to critical goes up very noticeably with dex (5% crit at 100 dex, 10% at 200 dex?), you can think of this as rangers doing (0.95x + 0.05*3x)= 1.1x or 10% more damage than a normie with same stats at 100 dex, or (0.9 + .1*3x)=1.2x or 20% more damage than a normie with same stats at 200 dex.

-How do you tell what your archery attack power is?
You can't, unless you possess the BFG
-How does dex affect procs?
See above. criticals and procs seem to have about the same percent chance to fire.
dramatically more procs at 200 dex vs 100.
-What increases your hit chance with archery?
Archery skill, of course. wolf form, firefist, str of nature etc. anything that says it affects your attack will affect archery attack
Statwise... Unknown. your article probably is your best guess (should be dex...but could be str).

Adron's answer is good. And yeah, you gotta kick. Rangers should keep ALL melee skills maxed as a point of pride.

Thanks everyone for the info! When I get higher level Ill do some more testing with str.

What parser do people use to track stuff like that?

I will pick up a few weps to keep up my other weapon skills! Maybe Ill make a kick kiting ranger when I get animal fear. See how long it takes to kill something with kick! We need ranger kick crits.

Possibly you are taking EQ Game as source, so it only will show the game itself.

You would need to pick up a scree region, the whole screen, so it shows everything shown on it: The game, Gina, desktop or whatever when you alt tab ...

SO painful to see kiting at full speed because you're not pulling with snare. WTF? You pull adds and don't snare 2/3 of them either!

Hello sir! I do pull with snare like I said in my vid! I did not mean to pull the adds like I said in my vid! I was getting low on mana and chose not to snare because I had SOW like I said in my vid. Perhaps your sound was down?
