Default I added music to Kunark

It always bothers me that there is no music in Kunark, so I found a way to add it. I used Shendare's work from here (and from another post of his that I can't find now.) I put all-new music into all the Kunark zones, along with some ambient sound effects. Give it a try -- I think it really enhances the Kunark mood.

Also, I think a lot of sounds across Norrath (such as whistling wind and lapping waves) are too loud on the Titanium client, and begin and end abruptly rather than fading. I adjusted those attributes for most sounds in most zones; that's part of the mod. I don't know if it's classic, but it sounds better to me. You might not even notice it, but if you don't like that change, you can keep your old files for the non-Kunark zones, or even edit the Kunark files yourself to add the music but leave the sounds untouched; it's actually pretty easy.

Click here to download. (Size: 347mb)

How to install it:

1. Back up all the .emt files in your EQ folder. It should work, but I didn't test every one of the high-end dungeons. If you keep crashing when entering a certain zone, or if you don't like the changes, then put back the zone's original .emt file.

2. Extract the .zip file directly into your EQ folder, overwriting all the .emt files.

How it works:

There is an .emt file for each zone in your EQ folder. This is where the game looks for what sounds to load. You can open them with a text editor. This mod is simply some new music (a bunch of .mp3s in a folder called \modmusic), and replacement .emt files which reference the music files and where to play them in each zone.

For anyone interested in modding it themselves, the key is at the top of each .emt file. You can just add a new line with a new track. Some of the settings in the key don't seem to work, though. I couldn't do Delayed Repeats, so everything loops. I also couldn't play 2 external sound files on top of each other; it will only combine 1 external file with 1 internal .wav file, regardless of whether they're flagged as music or environment sound. It still helps immersion.

The music is all under Creative-Commons licenses or otherwise free for non-commercial use. I found most of it on YouTube. There's a list of credits in the \modmusic folder. I also edited or combined several of the tracks in FL Studio to make them work better for EQ.

Love,
