Default Bo Staff of Trorsmang has the wrong stats

The Bo Staff of Trosmang had its stats changed in the Oct 8, 2001 patch as one of the two-handed weapons that were upgraded in the pre-Luclin Melee Changes. This upgrade is in-era on P99 Blue, but has not yet been implemented.

Summary of Melee Changes:
Two-Handed Weapons have been given an increased damage bonus for characters over level 50. Also, certain post-epic quality two-handers have been improved.

Prior to the patch, the Bo Staff of Trorsmang was a 40DMG 35DLY weapon granting +10STR +10AGI. These are the current stats on P99 Blue, and they are wrong.

Nov 25, 2001 Allakhazam archived entry for the Bo Staff of Trorsmang

This page shows the pre-upgrade stats even though the archived date of Nov 25, 2001 is after the Melee Changes patch date of Oct 8, 2001. This is because the page had not yet been updated to reflect the upgraded stats. This is proven in a post detailing the recent upgrade made by Allakhazam user Soygen on Nov 1, 2001, prior to the launch of the Shadows of Luclin expansion but following the Oct 8, 2001 patch.

Quote:
Soygen on Nov 1, 2001: This weapon has been upgraded in the recent class tuning patch(big patch with resist and 2hb/2hs changes). Stats are now:

42damage
35delay
+10 STR and STA
5.0 Weight
Notice how he says that the "recent class tuning patch" included resist and 2handed changes. We can clearly see that the Oct 8, 2001 patch also included important resist changes:

Magic System Changes:
There is a more detailed explanation of these changes posted on our Developer's Corner. Please visit there for more details (either at www.everquest.com or http://boards.station.sony.com/ubb/e...n/Ultimate.cgi). Here is a summary of the changes:
  • The level-based spell resistance bonus inherent in super-high level NPCs has been reduced significantly.
  • Several NPCs have had their resistances reduced. Each of them was examined carefully, and resistances changed as seemed appropriate. For some of these NPCs other things were changed as well to compensate for their increased susceptibility to spells, such as armor improvements or perhaps greater hit points, if needed for that NPC.
  • NPCs that were highly magic resistant in order to make them immune to certain spells can now be given specific immunity to those spells. This means that they can be made immune to critical spells, as intended, and still be generally less resistant to magic. Players will receive a message similar to the one that is already given for Mesmerization spells when they cast a spell on an NPC that it is specifically immune to.
Following the Oct 8, 2001 patch, the Bo Staff of Trorsmang was changed to a 42DMG 35DLY weapon granting +10STR +10STA. We can see the upgraded stats on the next archived version of the webpage dated Jan 12, 2002 (or listed by Soygen in his Nov 1, 2001 post). The Jan 12, 2002 date may be during the Luclin era, but this not evidence that the item was actually upgraded on this date or following the launch of Luclin. This is simply the first archived page following the stats being updated on the Allakhazam site.

The Bo Staff of Trosmang never received it's in-era upgrade that was implemented pre-Luclin as part of two-handed weapon improvements in the Oct 8, 2001 patch. Its DMG should be changed from 40 to 42, and it should grant +10STA instead of its +10AGI bonus.

You're welcome monks.
