If "resistance" players were truly buyers, Nihilum would be encouraging the growth of alternate, less organized guilds to sell to. It would operate as any niche business does, by specializing and running efficiently.

Except what is happening is the exact opposite. Nihilum griefs any new guild and recruits the weakest players as they break down. The only way that this approach makes sense is if the guild itself serves as the direct marketing tool for RMT. They follow a "company store" business model where the executives(officers) control both supply and demand, so they can fix a higher profit margins into every price.
