All I'm saying is the playing field isn't level. Until there is a level playing field, you can't just instate egalitarian ideals, give everyone the same piece of the pie, and call it even.
It's a slap in the face to so many organizations that are in place specifically because minorities and women are still getting screwed. It's a slap in the face to the NAACP. It's a slap in the face to every battered women's shelter. It's a slap in the face to anyone who is not white, male, middle/upper-class and heterosexual.
When groups of people are systematically oppressed in horrific ways for centuries they deserve better than for their oppressors to eventually and begrudgingly say, "You can be like us now! Woot! We're all cool now, right?"
People are going to be angry and they deserve to be angry. Imagine if you signed up for a 5 kilometer race, except you're a minority or a woman, and they go over the rules with you. "Well, all the non-minorities and men get a mile head start, because white men rule, fuck yeah!" So they get a mile out there, turn around and yell back at you, "Okay, you can start running now!" And no, they don't slow down or let you catch up.
