Media just took a huge dive into garbage town over the last 10.

Over the last many years the (IRONICALLY) the media was spreading this fake news narrative that journalism was not pulling in the money it used to and it couldnt afford to produce legitimate news/media. They tried pulling this shit where they encouraged people to "subscribe" to news, becuse now people were getting it off the internet instead of buying subscriptions to magazines/papers, so they (like the Taxi industry) tried to double down on their old practices instead of being compeditive and trying to figure out how to make money off of advertising/producing a quality product.

Now we see these news outlets, still struggling to pay the bills, but when you look at the AMOUNT of trash companies like CNN or whichever news outlet you want, NYT, newsweek, USAtoday, on and on, they have journalists traveling the world, writing garbage articles about nothing, that have no effect on anything and dont even broaden anyones horizons or inform people.

And I wonder, maybe, maybe you should maybe fire half? or MORE of your staff if you're not making enough money to pay them?

But instead, they decide to keep the companies as bloated as possible, and try to overbloat anymore. They follow the wake of FOX and just print sensationalist article after sensationalist article, where they can write from the comfort of their own desk, without even traveling to the locals they write about, they browse the internet and reddit to get their sources and just print whatever they want, just like a tumblr or blogger.

Only they have the LOGO that americans thought they could trust.

TLDR is the solution to media outlets being over budget wasnt to tighten their belt, it was to just print garbage and double down on sensationalism.
