PrasCoin - the P99 crypto coin

Project 1999 now has a crypto coin - the PrasCoin.

Download and installation instructions:

 

- Go to:https://github.com/prascoin/prascoinwallet/releases
- Download PrasCoin.exe
- Execute the installer. If it doesn't work, your antivirus may be blocking it. Install in a VM if you're nervous about pausing the antivirus.

Running the wallet:

 

- When you first run the wallet program, it will offer to create a new wallet. You have to select the series of random words it will display, and copy/paste them in the window below. Save these words in a notepad window - this is called the mnemonic seed.

- When you run the wallet, make sure it synchronises with the network. You can see the sync progression in the left bottom corner. If it reads "Wallet synchronized.", then it's good. Otherwise wait until it does.

- Your address is at the top of the window, below the text "Your account:". You can give this address freely to people and they can send you prascoin to that address.

- One great feature of the wallet is the so-called "mnemonic seed". It allows you to restore you wallet from that series of words on any compute at any time. Do not lose that seed (save it to your Google drive or something). Do not give this seed out. People can spend your coins if they have your seed.

- If your wallet gets corrupted, or you lose it, or it seems outdated, you can use the File > Reset wallet option. It essentially restores the wallet from the mnemonic seed and rescans the blockchain

How to get PrasCoin:

 

- You get PrasCoin by either having it sent to you by someone, or by mining it. There is roughly 1500 pras issued by the network every day. Some days more, some days less, but the general figure is 1500 / day. All these coins are split between people who contribute mining power to the network. The more power you contribute, the bigger your share.
- To start mining, click on the MINING tab in the wallet, on the left side of the window.
Then simply click Start Mining and leave it overnight or something. If your computer isn't from 19th century you should get a little pras in your wallet when you wake up.

General notes:

 

- Geeks: you can grab the source code from the github above, and run a full node on linux or something.
- The underlying technology is Cryptonote. It's pretty good when it comes to privacy. You can't spy on who sends coins to whom. Monero is another Cryptonote coin.
