![]() That's the most frustrating part of this project to me. Donals is game breaking and bad design, design that was fixed, but it's not "classic" to fix it until some trivial date verant woke up. If Trakanon dropped cloth caps on live for two weeks because they didn't itemize him yet you better believe on p99 he would drop cloth caps as well (though likely for far longer since patches are so rare here). That's, at least to me, fucking retarded.

![]() take the opposite, a completely non game breaking item that has been removed.
Guise, i know it factions and people get into neriak etc but game breaking? why ever take it out, it does no harm its just a fluff illusion.

![]() Would certainly free up some names...but then people like Dirtnap will swoop in, scoop up "premium names" and sell on for "premium prices".

![]() Well first, I think it should probably be a one-time event. It would increase the numbers of toons deleted if people knew they only had one shot, and it would prevent people leveling toons specifically to be sacrificed. I think most of the people who have huge numbers of high-level toons don't specifically want them; instead it's some combination of a) bought them b) 'utility toons' c) nothing better to do. I'm sure they'd make new alts and level them and such but I don't think they'd try and PL and rebuild the army overnight.
Also Fountree IMO they should just have a long Velious beta. Personally I would rather play Velious beta than Kunark at this point [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

![]() The only thing releasing Velious would solve is the constant whining on the forums directed at volunteers who are already working towards its release.
What people don't realize is, that about 4-6 weeks later all the "what now?" threads will replace them...and everyone will have raided, and had their Velious experience. What then? More alts? Y'all will always be demanding something... right now its Velious, next its probably Luclin or custom content. Change this, ban people from doing that, release this... ...but if you call people out on this behavior, they turn on you and say you're a moran.

I don't think velious is even close, id rather wait for a legit velious than one where the mobs hp are way off, their spell tables, loot tables, ai etc etc is just wrong... and those what no threads will be replaced with WTF Velious is borked! ya moran

![]() Hopefully...
people get fed up with the wait and start helping by gathering information instead of whining about it.

And before you say it, "raid mob competition", there's more to EQ and definitely more to Velious than ToV and Sleepers. Tons of factions, tons of non-raid mobs, tons of quests and tons of tradeskills that need to work. I wasn't around for the Kunark release so I can't speak first hand, but what do you propose be done if an exploit or an improperly tuned mob is found? Let's say a mob gives 2x the faction it should. How long is it acceptable to be left unfixed? What do you do to the people who discover and fully utilize this mob to max their faction in half the time? Ban them? Roll them back? Ignore it? Now what about the other people who weren't able to take advantage of it? Is that fair? Should it be fair? How do you handle all the bitching (rightful or not) on the forums as a result? There's a giant can of worms that can, and will be opened should things like this happen. What about problems that doesn't benefit the players? What if the mob isn't itemized properly? What if Vulak drops cloth caps? Or if one of the warders is bugged and the Sleeper awakes improperly? Shouldn't have to handle that once it's released, when it can be properly tested in a longer dev cycle. And problems will happen regardless. But I think the devs are quite right to hold off to make it as best as possible. Because when it is released, it'll be brilliant and a shitload of fun, at least, as fun as Velious ever was. Which, most people think seemed to be the pinnacle of classic EQ.
