Monk and Bard could both probably level to 50 naked, lets be real...With that said, there are SEVERAL reason why maining a monk is a better idea than maining a bard.

1) its easier getting a group as a monk...its not really even up for debate. Melee DPS is always in demand. Lots of hybrid hate on the server, and Bard is not a min/max group class where Monk is. Advantage monk.

2) Epic! If this is your first character, you want an Epic. Monk epic is almost completely solo-able, you might need a group for a couple of the fights at the end, but they are mainly triggered events and its generally a very easy/satisfying epic to complete. Bard epic is full of bottle necks, rare drops, raid mobs, its literally one of the hardest to do. Advantage Monk.

3) Monk twink items are super expensive, and you don't really need them - Cloak of Flames, Tranquil Staff, Tranix Crown, Fungi, Ect - But the bard items are less expensive and more fun. Eye of Zomm helm, Illusion Masks, Class Armor clickies, BoH, Lute of the Howler....i just generally feel like Bards get more utility items that are fun "twink" items that dont cost 75k a pop. I have a really nice geared Bard that I twinked with probably 30k - a much more reasonable number to get for twink gear.

46+ your going to be getting planar/raid/velious no drop gear anyways, so sub 50 is all we are really talking about,

I have 100% grouped from lvl 1-50 on my bard, and twinking him is so much more fun than twinking a monk fun.
