Druid tracking begins at 20.

During Plane of Sky patch it was supposed to go to 50.

Three months after Velious it goes up to 125.

They never changed it to 50. It's still 20. This is because if you go through all the patch notes, there is never a mention of the 50 cap. And if it's not in the patch notes from 2000, it's not going to get fixed.

Sony forgot to mention that in a patch note and now we're stuck with the 20.

Here is a post from druidsgrove from 2001, https://thedruidsgrove.org/archive/eq/t-3929.html

Druid's tracking skill maxes at 125 (which is quite an improvement over previous caps at 20 and 50).
But of course people mentioning it in contemporaneous accounts doesn't count. Doesn't matter if everyone who played a druid in 2000 remembers it or people wrote it down back then. It's not in the official patch note archive so see ya!

if druids get 125 track, necros and clerics should get 5/8ths of HT/LoH

this is exactly why the server is a joke tbh. They don't let druids have the classic experience b/c an update was erroneously left out of patch notes.. yet we have /list, peram-rooted dragons, staff doling out permission to guilds to raid as well as intervening on guilds who act out of turn.

I do enjoy p99 but it's not classic. I repeat: it's a joke. They claim everything is to preserve the spirit of classic. Yet operate in a fashion that's completely the antithesis of that credo. Ignoring changes that everyone knows to have been in game by certain points that make minimal impact on the overall experience, while simultaneously making changes with huge impact like those mentioned above.

Another never mentioned in a patch note (or afaik elsewhere) is that tracking did not allow you know the direction to a mob that was currently out of your track range, giving you random directions every track tick once you (or the mob) moved out of range. Here on p99 it always gives correct direction. This is one of the reasons druid track is OP here even at 20 skill cap.

Well people kept telling me go enchanter, but then I clarified that I was interested in being a gentleman farmer, not like a real one that has to work-work.

OP, role a death touch eater if you want to track.
