As long as you believe forces beyond your control can destroy your life, anything can destroy your life. The first addiction is the emotional security of victimhood. The second addiction is the symptom.
Go read a book or work out. Game of Thrones does not count because it is really shitty fantasy targeted at rednecks and old perverts who don't notice when a character has only a single dimension as long as there is incest or unmotivated cruelty to get excited about. Game of Thrones sucks and I hope that pisses someone off. Anyone else wonder what percentage of p99 are current or recovering addicts? Do MMOs attract addictive personalities or do they create their own kind of addictive behavior? Is your EQ avatar a way for you to escape into a fantasy where you are capable and heroic? If it is an escape, is it an opiate, impeding real change, or a stimulant, enabling a healthy perspective shift? Is that an awkward analogy in a thread on drugs on the shittiest sub-forum of an almost illegal emulation of ElfSim '99? How the fuck did you get here? How bad is Game of Thrones? | ||

hbb is totally right about AA. seen it with my dad who is now going less, but knows that it's up to him to not do anything. or as south park said, "you must learn the discerpwin"
if you are an addict then get the fuck over your self and grow up. that's really all it is. you deal with the shit that's happened to you instead of thinking some magical chemical will fix it. and yes this is all meaningless and absurd, which is why you gotta laugh

I think it's ironic that the more hardcore atheist out of the two us, Halito and I, is the one who's a huge fan of AA. It took one visit to my friend's NA meeting to see that place was chock-full of crazy, in addition to the religious crazy.

A great number of people find healing in the church and/or AA and to begrudge them that healing is indicative only of your own bias and not some perceived destitution of character or intellect in the addicted deist. Each person has their own path to happiness and wholeness and is entitled to experience and cope with life -- as either an addict, an atheist, a deist, etc etc -- as they the individual are best able.

I totally agree, that's why I'm way more moderate atheist than a lot of the people here. If faith in god has some real benefit to your life, I'm happy you found something that works. However, it turns me the fuck off from those programs. Thank god I'm boring and only addicted to EQ and cigarettes.
