Not to mention LoLs heroes (that you get ripped off by having to pay for) the majority of are based off the original dota. Also for the record I play both....well not so much anymore mainly because of this......

No, you do not. You can play the entirety of League without paying 1 cent. Just takes time to unlock things. Some people see this as a minus...I like unlocking things.
