SoW is an abbreviation, take the O in of makes a uh sound and the W in wolf does not make a woe sound. so its is pronounced Sew as in a needle pulling thread.

Needle... thread. Or more precisely, the planting reference.
Like Neil said: "We sow the seeds. Nature grows the seeds. Then we eat the seeds." The pig thing is just something my mind never connects to. I can probably count on one hand the number of times in my life I've referred to a female pig as a sow, and it just feels awkward.

Lol, why is there so much argument about word pronunciation (e.g. tow vs. toe, bow vs. bow) when SoW is an acronym. There's no way to definitively prove your pronunciation is right or even proper when you're dealing with an acronym - it just is what it is depending on the person.

Just to settle this once and for all:
Everquest eventually introduced a spell called Spirit of Eagle. So shut the fuck up, you have to say the Pig one!

My dictionary claims tow-MAH-toe is un-'Merican.

I usually call it by its full name when reading the acronym. However, I like the more unique pronunciation since sew and so are very common.
