Default Best Iksar duo (veteran + eq noob)

I have convinced my friend to dip into a little project 1999 with me. We have played many new school mmos together so while he hasn't played eq he is fairly experienced with the genre, though used to more fast paced games.

I'm set on us both rolling iksars as I believe their starting area is the most new player friendly. My question is what duo do you think would be best suited to us. We would mostly be duo'ing thought the occasional pug isn't out of the question. I also have around 2k to get us started with some gear.

Thanks!

sham/monk no question.

sk/sham and war/sham also good, but nothing beats a sham/monk combo.

As others have said shammy/monk is probably your best bet but, just to throw another option out there, shammy/necro is a great duo also.

And if you are the light Roleplaying type, look up the Harbingers of Thule for your guild needs! All Iksar, All The Time!

Shaman/necro is quite awesome. Necro's are easy to gear too if that is a concern.

You'll probably actually level faster with sham/nec than sham/monk, and overall be a "stronger" duo until/unless the monk is extremely geared out and you're both nearing 60.
