If you forget to hit /loc before you die, you can enlist the help of a necromancer or bard to find your corpse.

Also, a good idea is to make a macro with /loc so you can just push the button instead of having to type it. You can access macros in the 'socials' tab of the command window (the one with invite/sit/camp/attack/etc.): scroll over until you see empty buttons, then right click and set up a macro called Loc with command /loc. Then you can drag that to your hotbar and click it for easy use.

I should also mention that EverQuest has more roles than the typical tank/healer/DPS trinity of modern MMOs. Enchanters and bards excel at crowd control (making sure your group is only fighting one monster at a time); shamans excel at buffing your party and slowing the enemy. Also, different classes have different degrees of complexity and gear dependency. Warriors and rogues are two of the simplest classes; enchanters and bards are two of the most complex. Paladin's a little more complex than a warrior but way less reliant on gear.

What class/race are you?

You can go to East Commonlands, go to the tunnel, ask people for buffs in /ooc (damage shield and regen are the major ones), then start whacking on enemies. Or forego the buffs altogether and kill stuff outside the Freeport gates or in North Ro or East Commonlands.

Kill stuff in the front yard (east commons) there. Bats,rats,snakes and bugs and baby orcs. You might want to look up a 'starting everquest' guide, I'm sure there's a few laying about. Also check out the p99 wiki. Google is your friend.

I'm a Halfing/Paladin, I don't have any items, I keep dying to rats and skeletons :P

You don't need anything other than your starting sword to kill level 1 monsters (monsters that have white text when you right click on them). If you died, make sure you pick up your sword from your corpse. Also make sure it's equipped; it should be in your primary hand when you go to your inventory (I).

Also, I think you must be mistaken or playing on a different server; there's no such thing as a halfling paladin here. Do you mean dwarf?

Kill stuff, look for more places to kill stuff, find loot, look for more places to find loot.

I maybe wrong, I think I'm an human, the many races confused me :P.

Yah prolly human, which means freeport. Dwarf would be in kaladim.
