Managed to rope someone else into playing. They rolled a barb warrior so I'm thinking of rolling a new character, a barb shaman :P

I've never been to Halas so watching them play their warrior was something new for me. That and warriors seriously benefit from twinking :P

Just thought I'll bump this for a quick thank you to everyone so far that I've played with or just casually chatted to in game. 'Lafael' the druid is doing great in Crushbone (seriously, I love that zone) and my Shaman 'Venexia' + friend's Warrior 'Wulframm' are making a great duo; we just arrived in Black Burrow.

Playing it from fresh, i.e. no twinking, is somewhat difficult, especially for Wulframm. He literally has almost no armour, not even cloth. Everfrost Peaks drops are stingy, especially those polar bears, other newbie zones seem far more friendlier with loot drops. That said, for both Lafael and Venexia the cost of spells is becoming fairly high and both are broke as a result. Venexia has all her level 5 Shaman spells and Lafael has the important level 9 Druid spells. Wulframm however could use some armour or a decent weapon! Heck, so could Lafael. I'm just waiting for someone to come running though the zones with some odd items to sell that may be of use.

Anyway, I'm having a great time, and apart from the activities of a small number of bards running around entire zones with a congo line of enemies, everyone has been great (that said, the bards did leave us newbies with enough mobs to kill ourselves). After years of back and forth between other MMOs and the usual life priorities, it's good to come back to EQ and enjoy it even more than I did all those years ago; it really did something right, something that no other game has been able to recreate.

Feel free to send me a tell if you see me in game [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

So a little bump for this thread. As you can see, both Lafael and Venexia have leveled significantly since my previous post. Between the two I would say I find the Shaman more enjoyable but that may be more because I'm playing her along with a friend (Wulframm the Warrior). I've met nothing but nice people, many who have helped us along our way, especially Wulframm (he now has armour and a decent weapon)!

I'm having an absolute blast and despite being a near 15 year old game, it's still the best. Oh, and I can seriously spend hours at end looking through the East Commonlands Tunnel threads, amazing stuff in there that I can only hope to obtain one day!

Not trying to tell you what to do but sounds like you are getting Alt crazy like I did when I started here. I had fun but was always broke as hell trying to equip them.

I finally got off my ass and leveled up my druid and have made a TON of plat with it both porting, looting, PLing. The game has become a LOT more fun because of it. Nice to have nice toys. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The first two, the Bard and the Enchanter, were from the previous 2 times I came on here. The Druid and Shaman are my latest, I haven't played the others since. I'm thinking to keep with the Druid and Shaman, only using the latter when the Warrior is on. I'm tempted to jump back on with the Bard and Enchanter, but as you mentioned, I'll be forever trying to keep them up to date.

For equipping the Barbarian Shammy (and the Warrior too, if he's really *that* naked), these quests are available:

http://wiki.project1999.com/Cindl%27...ear_Collection - crappy leather armor
http://wiki.project1999.com/Cindl%27...and_Collection - slightly less crappy leather armor
http://wiki.project1999.com/Tribunal_Symbol_Quests - for the Shammy only
http://wiki.project1999.com/Goblin_Caster_Necklace - same

Sorry nocookies, somehow I missed your post!

We've made progress and both the Warrior and I are in High Hold Pass. Our gear is mostly gifts from other generous players, which has been very helpful! In fact, last night I was able to pay it forward, gifting some low level gear to other new players in Greater Fay along with some buffs. It felt really good to be able to do that and push the karma forward.

My experience thus far has been nothing but positive here. I find that politeness goes a long way and everyone in general just wants to have fun and relive the magic [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I think you'd enjoy either the shaman or the druid. If you generally play up until about L20 as you say, then know that you will only achieve your first set of ports that are self-only as a druid (BB, WC, NK, Toxx).

I mention that as it might tip your decision.

(Opinion)
From the time I've played both classes (and I admit, my paladin tendencies come out in any class), at that level I preferred that the shaman had a little more ass in a fight.
