Even those who have prepared for years, have decades worth of food, large wooded areas with wildlife to hunt, etc wouldn't last long if it got really bad. That is, unless they were so remote that they'd never see another human again. The more you have stored, the more you'll just get raided and raped by roaming gangs. Eventually, you'll run out of ammunition or arrows when they come for you.

Best bet is to get into a small community you can trust where everyone works together. If for nothing else than to barter.

Well that won't work. We all know what happened in Woodbury.

the US economy is doomed to implode which is going to create varying levels of hyperinflation... probably within the next 5-10 years.

Wonder how many of us would sit in front of your PC waiting for it to come back on line so you could post what's going on in the forums?

pull up a map of nuclear power plant locations. if you live near one, you're dead within weeks. diesel back ups will keep them going for a little while, but no one is coming to refill the tanks. cooling sheds melt down and spew radiation on all neckbeards and their apocalypse stash of pasta and whiskey. there is no back-up plan in america. if the lights go out, kiss it good bye.
