Ok so..

Stand around the corner so human skeleton does not aggro.
Open up trade window with Ornate bottle. DO NOT TRADE YET.
Receive an invisibility versus undead.
Click trade. Receive bottle of swirling smoke.

Does this not work?

Alternately, trading with a charmed one should as well.
I haven't tried it that way, and from what I recall on classic it wasn't this difficult. I was able to hand it from down the hallway and gate out.

Here, I have tried approaching the skeleton with IVU getting far enough away such that I am at the edge of the trade radius, clicking off IVU and trading- it just gets eaten and yet does not actually attack me.

It seems if there's someone to IVU you chances are it's a necro or a chanter who could just charm it anyway.

Aaand I don't think a potion would work, since you can't cast whilst trading.

is this coded differently? I know you can't turn in a jade shard for OT hammer unless you personally charm it.

and again...lull? wouldn't that be the easiest solution?

It only needs to be non-KoS I think, I haven't actually tried lull. I mean I would just have the enchanter, necro or bard just charm it and not even bother lulling.

The method I posted just worked for me. The reason it won't work without the invis at all is because kos npcs do not process item trades

That skeleton requires amiable faction, requiring you yourself to have it charmed.

The human skeleton requires > dubious (not kos), allowing someone else to charm it, making it indifferent.

Who reason the person has to use strings on mob is because you need higher then Indiff faction to do the quest. This you don't.

Thanks nilbog. Been trying to get this quest done for a few months now, I'll try that method when he's up next.

Nilbog, 2 nights ago I brought my Necro friend who charmed it (the skeleton in CoM). I handed in the bottle and still it got eaten.

People are telling me that I have to bring and enchanter to charm, but based on what you're saying a Necro charming it should have worked.

charm is charm it shouldn't matter what class, should be able to use a bard...unless level difference due to song restriction....

Not sure what the problem would be.. I just tried this on the pve server, and used Cajole Undead to charm as a necromancer. Worked fine.
