Yes that which hunt is why I left P1999. Was accused of macroing my toon.

Just be careful that your wife never sits around too long without doing anything, you both will get banned for being accused of boxing!

Seriously? That's pretty extreme. You can't go AFK without being accused of something? Doesn't the whole we're often doing entirely different things mean we're two people?

My GF or I go afk all the time while playing and have never had a problem. We make a point of never touching the other's computer while the other is on, afk or not, and try to remember to put up the AFK flag when we do.

The one thing that constantly worries me, though, is I've been playing since release and she is totally new to EQ with P99 so I tend to lead the way and negotiate groups, etc. She isn't one to really chat a lot in games and is kind of shy anyway, so when people are talking to us in a group or something I sometimes have to yell at her "talk to that guy, dammit!"

Well you have to understand I would not be surprised at all if at least half the requests are really boxers or would lead down that road. Heck I think every husband/wife combo I meet in EQ since 1999 the husband played the wife healer or porter on the side a great deal more then she bothered to log on herself.

Yeah, but then you have to figure that there are those like me, my girlfriend and my two room mates. Finally been able to convince them to play eq because they don't have to worry bout a subscription fee. Me and one of my room mates are eq vets, my girlfriend and other room mate are new to the game, fun dynamic. We've been waiting for 8 days so far alternating who gets to play so we can stay close to each other in level, but I figure the wait right now is probably more due to the server roll-back and admins being busy with reimbursements than anything else. The only thing we can do is wait patiently. Hopefully you didn't sacrifice too much to convince the wifey to dedicate a whole weekend to Everquesting.

Just be respectful, once you get exempt ****DON'T**** multi-box no matter how tempting. Do not ruin the IP-exemptions for all of us who legitimately want to play with several of our REAL friends in the same home and share the Everquest experience with someone new. Boxing just mean players are empty husks on the server, taking up population numbers and exp/spawns/drops without contributing to the COMMUNITY. P1999 wants that server population number to be REAL, not 1/2 or worse of what it shows because one guy is boxing all of LGUK. Doesn't work on a throwback server (not enough zones), doesn't help the community(grouping with a boxed duo or trio sucks, isn't the point of the game to socialize and be part of a community?), it just does a lot more harm than good (not too mention the risk of ruining the chance for legitimate exemptions to be accepted).

To sum it up, wait, that's what I've been told, I'm still waiting too you are not in this boat alone. Until the exemption is placed and the block is lifted try to alternate with your wife or room mate or whatever and get yourself in a good position to group when you can.

Punk!

Email me! I'm lurking about on the server on occasion. I hope you get your exemption. I'd love to run around with you both again sometime!

The developers of this project put way too much time into this for us to be put on the spotlight every single time we make a decision, ESPECIALLY when you ASSUME you know all the facts. 90% of the time, you don't. Situations are handled between the staff and the players directly involved. Any dialog between a GM and a player can be considered a private matter, and will not be open to public debate. Players will divulge their interactions with GM's as they see fit, maybe giving all details and maybe not disclosing all of it, and quite possible they themselves aren't aware of every point of consideration in a staff decision.

Isn't there some sort of boxing "test" to administer before banning somebody for mere observation? Something like, both parties responding simultaneously to tells, running in the same direction/different directions at the same time.

You know, kind of like a field sobriety test for drunk drivers?

Banning people from simply "watching" them over any amount of time without giving them a chance to prove otherwise seems a bit lame.

I'm glad you asked!

Yes, there is. I've got all sorts of neat tricks, and most of them, I can do without you ever knowing that I did them. Most of those take ~5 minutes. If you fail those, I'm still going to watch 45 mins to 2 hours before doing anything.

Of the 5 or so reports today, only 2 failed. We don't just ban on suspicion, and there's about a page of documentation + multimedia evidence when we do.

It's not like we sit around hunting down 2boxers. TBH those, and camp disputes are the most epic wastes of time in the game. I stay logged in while I work on other things in case someone has an emergency. Most emergencies I can handle in seconds. But every time someone decides to break a rule, I spend an hour doing paperwork on the crap. Every hour I spend doing paperwork is an hour I'm not testing Kunark. Keep it in mind folks.
