In my opinion there is a massive influx of overly-sensitive people making threads about how their feelings were hurt because in their opinion someone is being rude to them.

If someone is running a duo or trio they are not required to invite anyone, nor should they if they prefer their setup. Smaller, balanced groups are faster exp and not everyone is seeking nostalgic slogfest grinding. Some people are on their 8th characters and have been in unrest enough to make them suicidal.

I don't agree with not inviting someone because of a penalty, but most of the time people crying about this particular matter leave out the fact that it was a ranger or knight. It's not exactly surprising that not everyone wants a big hit to their exp and an underpowered class in their group. When do you see people rejecting bards? Pretty much never, yet they still get the hybrid penalty. Monks are also rarely turned away in my experience. If this situation was nearly as bad as people claim you would see a lot more halflings. I'm not saying it doesn't suck when you are that troll shadowknight, but like Tecmos said, you made the choice. No one forced you to eat that troll penalty.

And to answer your rhetorical question masking the rant, NO, there is not suddenly a massive amount of douchebags on the server - you are simply not used to games that require interaction. People were always doucehbags, you just didn't talk to them in every other mmo.

For the record I've been playing off and on since early 2011 and have had very few encounters where I have thought someone was truly trying to be rude to me.

For what it's worth, most of the posts in this thread were fine, and I understand the frustration that can sometimes be had when you are unable to find a group or feel you are being discriminated against.

But then I read posts like this that I hope are trolls:

lol@ all the fucktards saying "they don't have to invite you," "it's not their fault they don't want hybrid penalty," "they have free will, get over it."

the OP wasn't saying they HAD to do it, he was saying that they were jerks which they completely are. everyone has the right to be an asshole and you can't do anything about it, but let's not forget that they are indeed pieces of shit that make this game worse for everyone else.
And this whole thing gets sent straight to RnF.

i guess you guys are right. since that seems to be the philosophy here, i think we should have ranger, paladin, shadowknight, troll and iksar locked on accounts until they have a level 45 character. they'll be geared enough to solo somewhat, won't be wasting hours wondering why they aren't getting groups and reasonable players won't have to group with them and have their exp taken.

I can't help but be amused that you are simultaneously whining about non-full groups AND hybrids being hated. Hybrids fit best in smaller groups, after all, where their versatility can be better used than in most full groups.

ITT, it did not originate in RnF, and OP finally came off their nostalgia high, realized it's an MMO and people are impatient

who gives a shit? i'd take a group of three clerics, a ranger and two paladins if it meant someone on this server wasn't sitting around waiting to play. maybe one of them would give up their spot to an LFG rogue for the sake of courtesy, but many classes, especially if their newbies, are dependent on groups to play this game at all. to shit on player dependency, interaction and community is the cancer that's killing the MMO genre.

i recommend cookie clicker for you. you can get all your pixels and see your virtual numbers go up without having to talk or work alongside anyone.

TMO: if you want to experience the end-game, put in the effort + hours and work for it.

bregan: we don't want to play that way but still want to kill things

TMO: fuck you, i want to gear my 7th alt

-----------------------------------------

techmo: if you want to experience the game, make a class that has no penalty or can solo

me: we don't want to make a solo class but still want to kill things

techmo: fuck you, i want to level my 7th alt slightly faster
