Default Rogue Weapon Advice (3,000 plat budget)

I never leveled very far in Everquest live nor Project 1999. I have played Project 1999 off and on. I am really a newbie when it comes down to it. I do not have much experience past level 20.

My friend recently has given me 3,000plat and I have decided to start a new rogue and focus on getting to 50, and maybe 60 at some point. I think a nice weapon would be the best thing to purchase that will last a while and be most beneficial to my group members while leveling. (I want to get invited back, not be the rogue that did as much dps as the cleric!)

Anyone familar with the current market prices that can help me get the best bang for my buck? I thought of trying to spend it all on the mainhand and worry with the offhand later. I know this question comes up alot but the market changes and what was good for 3,000 then isn't now.

Thanks for any help you can give. I am ready to shop and get started! Then I decide on a race![You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

All solid options below your price range, though if I had to pick 1, it would be Bone Razor.

http://wiki.project1999.com/Crystalline_Short_Sword 2kish - For your offhand, will last you a very long time.

Bone Razor + CSS would be a good use for that 3000.
Will last you quite awhile until you can get epic to
upgrade your mainhand.

Theoretical option:

If you get a pair of jade maces or something on discount you can dual wield those and swap the spear whenever backstab is up.

Bone Razor + CSS for sure.

Crys Spear looks nice on paper but anything with a delay that high isn't much fun to use. Just "feels" slow. I used my Jade Chodaki Prod on Cec for about 10 mins before I bagged it and got a Slime Coated Harpoon.

Backstab swapping is quite a bit of work for something that I'm fairly certain resets your weapon delay timers. So in actuality, you're sacrificing a bit of melee dps to get nicer backstabs, which is the whole reason you're swapping weapons in the first place. I'd say go with a setup you can just run with the whole time and focus your attention on positioning.

If you're not planning to do your epic anytime soon and want to upgrade your primary, search for a Rapier of Oriin... and don't pay the EC fat cat prices, anything over 5-5.5k is too much.
