No, good sir... as on VZ I am sure you had other means by which to grief people other than trains. Xegony was as close as you could get to PVP on a carebear server. It was like the Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome of blue servers.

Yea, it wasn't a real raid unless you got trained and had an item ninja looted. If one of those things didn't happen, it caused strange things to happen. Like, guild drama over loot or strat causing half the guild to quit.

Trains kept people focused.

Add: Additional MOB aggro'd (could be on purpose but typically accidental)

Never knew this; I assumed it just meant Mob as in "an unruly mob." Oh and kudos to the post above me for getting something everyone else missed. I also found QQ pretty amusing to learn.

the computer graphics programming term MOB (Movable Object Block)

The term mob as it is used in MUDs is short for mobile, which was used by Richard Bartle for objects that were self-mobile in MUD1. Source code in DikuMUD uses the term "mob" to refer to a generic NPC. DikuMUD was influential in the creation of EverQuest, and the term as it exists in MMORPGs is derived from the MUD usage. In this usage, the term is properly an abbreviation rather than an acronym. Backronyms for "MOB" such as "monster or beast", "mere ordinary beast" and "mean old bastard" have also been coined.

Full article here.

Personally I like the acronym "Monster or Beast"

awesome info BeepBeep; thanks! I suspected it was from MuDs as soon as I learned what MOB meant. Oooh here's one I don't recall seeing on this thread.

Woot.

Also from MUDs, right? It means "Wow, loot!"

wow Wiki shows this: Do I actually know more than wiki on this one ??

W00t is a Leet corruption of the exclamation "Woot!", meaning "Hooray". The term rose to popularity sometime during the 1990s and is popular on the Internet, especially in MMORPGS. Both the exclamation and the Leet spelling are of uncertain origin. Many explanations have been offered, but none cite any reliable research or definitive sources. At this time, any explanation proffered without proper citations is mere speculation.

I hated when people said "argo" and "mod" instead of aggro and mob. Man, the little things in life...

Xegony was the business. For a blue server, we had serious anger issues.
aka the good old days.
