Custom Macros not working when dragged to hotbars

I'm having a problem where my custom macros (assist, INC, and MEZ) are not working outside of the action window where you create the custom macros. For instance, if i use the macro from where i made it, it works. If i drag the same macro to a hotbar and hit the corresponding key for it, it does not work. Very frustrating when you are trying to assist your main tank. Any help or direction would be appreciated. Thanks.
