As I use a Crapintosh, and have many versions of EQ under variations of the wine client.
I had that problem once.
I found it was due to a software patch that the p1999 peeeps put out.
One of the folders updated was sent as "CAPS".
That broke the EQ client as you know that Unix computers don't like different names.. EG CAPS, whereas Winblowzz does not care at all.
So I just grumbled a lot on the Guild forums and uncapitalised the file after each patch.
The last patch that has been released is correct, so no complaints.
Also ensure your client is in windowed mode, (at a rez lower than your computer screen).

I suggest you reinstall the client and make a new client in a new wrapper..
