Default Looking for reading material

Hello, I used to play EQ on and off since I was 10 from 2000-2011. I recently heard about p99 and my dad and I are excited to start up again. We are waiting until I get back from my deployment.

I only have internet for an hour or 2 a day, and I love reading guides and things about p99. I've read most of the guides on the wiki and a few threads here, and I was wondering if anyone has a list of "classic" threads I can read through. Anything from threads covering certain game mechanics to faqs in detail would be great. I see a few older threads mentioned when someone asks a basic question so I thought I would ask for a list, or maybe just point me to one if I may have missed it.

Thanks in advance for any help, and I look forward to playing with all of you soon.

Another thing I'd recommend is looking at the patch notes on these forums (under the announcement forum) and alla as well- those on Alla will give you an idea of some of the era-specific things you may be able to expect here, but specifically the announcement forum could probably tell you the most in threads about the server and mechanics.

A lot of the threads regarding mechanics that don't make it into a bug forum are usually rants, a lot of which aren't applicable anymore, some of these fixes include:

-Low HP kiting: Wherein somebody with sow keeps themself under 20% hp so that the mobs are perma aggrod on them, while a well-placed wizard or bard used their AE spells to knock out the crowd of mobs chasing said low hp char.

-Mage-specific (solo?) xp nerf: This I think happened relatively early on, but as a mage here you get an xp penalty on kills where your pet does more than 50% dmg

The Blackburrow "3200"- as it was called in another thread that I used to link frequently lol. Gnoll Fangs are worth less xp as of the last server patch (some threads out there would tell you how many it would take to get to 60 otherwise; the number was astronomical but still doable due to the amount of xp never tapering off) (source: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...ackburrow+3200)

Some that are still in game and/or create trouble from time to time:

Chardok AE: a group which sits at the entrance to chardok, pulls the whole zone, and kills them via wizard AE/chain stun. Spots in this group generally go for 2k per pull (as I found last week that averages 10%ish/pull 55-60) (Source: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=157959)

Bards AE Kiting: It happens, avoid OT if necessary.

AC: While the staff works their (voluntary) hardest on mechanics, AC can at times prove to work slightly different from live. This is because precise numbers and calculations were not known due to their secrecy and later being lost in non-classic patches (or so I thought); the staff strives to make this as accurate as possible given their configuration (and to my knowledge as a mostly non-melee player it seems to work well) (Source: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=148089)

Era-Specificity: While Kunark has run more than its course, the devs will implement various nerfs, quests, mobs and npcs that are specific to various points in an expansion (ex. the death of Cros Treewind in Qeynos Hills)

Item Nerfs: These things do/will happen as per the era, buy a circlet of shadow if you have a few plat to spare sometime [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] (source: http://wiki.project1999.com/Removed_Items)

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I will certainly go through everything you mentioned.
