The main problem is trying to play an untwinked melee class.. Pretty rough.

Run mail delivery in felwithe the first seven levels, or more if you want (can fight a little on runs to get skills up). Take the 50-100pp (~50pp @ lvl5) from that and grab some armor off a vendor. Bang - armored - classic.
