"The Memory could not be read"
Hello All,
Everytime I attempt to log into P1999 EQ i would get the following error: Everquest Windows - Application error The instuctions at 0x02a845b4 referenced emory at 0x0368f0a4 The Memory could not be read I read the tech doc and even did the full install. Changing the INI to match the 800 / 600 did not work. I'm trying to get this EQ working on my sureface Pro 2. Things i have tried already: 1. Uninstall/install game. 2. Change the eq INI to the following: WindowedWidth=800 WindowedHeight=600 Width=800 Height=600 FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32 FullscreenRefreshRate=0 WidthWindowed=800 HeightWindowed=600 and WindowedWidth=1920 WindowedHeight=1020 Width=1920 Height=1020 FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32 FullscreenRefreshRate=0 WidthWindowed=1920 HeightWindowed=1020 3. Uninstall/reinstall WINEQ2 4. Unstalled WINEQ2 and installed Velious UI But still getting memory error. Please help if you can [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Is this after the server select screen?
It could have trouble with fullscreen. Seems like windowed mode is safer. Try Windowedmode=TRUE

I am getting the same error and having difficulty figuring it out. It happens just after server selection, before character selection. Error comes up as loading screen pops up and progress bar reaches maybe 10%.
Well, I got in, played for a bit, was disconnected, and now I cannot get in with same error. I tried uninstall/reinstall, updating drivers, resolution changes, a mouse, still nothing seems to be fixing it.

Attach a mouse. EQ needs to detect an input device. A USB or bluetooth mouse would suffice.

For some reason, my last attempt at a reinstall, there is no eqclient.ini like the rest of the times. I have a eqlsclient.ini that has alot of website address references, but nothing like the other had.

Also, eqclient.ini is generated when you log in.

Have the same issue, its right after you login and choose server, before character creation screen. First time I check project 1999 out.
Probably has nothing to do with it but I couldnt find the files Im supposed to delete in setup: arena.eqg arena_EnvironmentEmitters.txt lavastorm.eqg nektulos.eqg Nektulos_EnvironmentEmitters.txt Do I need to install EQEmulator to play this game or is that to make your own server ? I installed the WinEQ2 from Lavishsoft but it requires a account at Lavishsofts to run wich I havent made.. Please assist on the matter as me and my sister is dying to play some old EQ again [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Well it seems i figured it out. After I installed game I made a desktop shortcut to Launch Titanium file. This however wouldnt let me run as admin, when I did it kept saying Eqgame.exe file is missing wich it wasnt (i located it in folder) I right clicked both eqgame.exe and launch titanium and made the compability option to run them as XP servicepack 2. After that I right clicked eqgame.exe file and clicked the option "run as admin at all times". (remember to save this option) After that the game started [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] I also edited 2 eqclient.ini text files and turned down resolution to width=800 and height=600. It was eqclient.ini and eqclientwineq.ini files. Oh and I probably should add that im currently running Windows 7 64x....

I was having the same issue after installing windows 10 preview. I disabled the 'Read Only' option for everything in the project 1999 directory. After that I was able to log in and play.

try this.
Right click your EQGame file go to Properties > Compatibility tab > Run this PROGRAM in compatibility mode for WINDOWS XP This seems to have fixed the issue. I have been able to log in and log out multiple times so far. We'll see what tomorrow brings however. This fix didn't come without its own issues. I tried the XP setting, but I got random timeout issues, the Vista setting seems to be working best for me atm.
