Enchanters are:
1) better solo farmers than necromancers (although necros are also very good at it); 2) comparable solo EXPers to necromancers (both classes can charm; necros have the benefit of feign death and lich form, while enchanters have various other useful charming tools, i.e. the ability to charm any monster rather than just undead, tash and charisma-boosted charm, lots of stuns/mezzes/mem blurs, clarity, etc.) 3) much more desired in groups (although it doesn't sound like this is a big priority for you) 4) much easier to get around with (since they can use illusions and such to be friendly in lots of places) Honestly, I don't really see the reason to play a necromancer when you could play an enchanter instead. Necromancers have more options for slower, lazy soloing (root-dotting, fear kiting with a skeleton pet, etc.) but if you're actually willing to put effort into your play, it seems like enchanters are as good or better in every category.
