Default Game brightening up

Is it just me or when I launch EQ my whole screen gets brighter? If anyone knows how to fix this I would really appreciate it.

Taking a guess but...

Most people set the Gamma pretty high to offset the "night" time in game so you can see better.

This would generally change your monitor settings right as the game launches and applies those.

So it would brighten as it launches, and revert when you log out.

After you launch the game you can right click on your desktop > Go to Screen Resolution > Click on Display at the top > Click on calibrate color then hit next, it should darken the screen back to normal, then you can just close it out. I have to do this on my laptop as well. You'll have to do it every time you login, but if the brightness bugs you enough it is worth it.

This is a problem with the EQ client. It sets the default gamma for the EQ client - which may not be the same as your system default.

A temporary fix is to slide the gamma slider ingame one tick and then back again. This resets the game client's gamma to your own system gamma.
