![]() Does anyone really think the Eric Garner situation would have been different if he was white? Cops are assholes regardless of skin color. The difference is that when a white person gets a little police brutality, he thinks "what an asshole". When a black person gets a little police brutality, he thinks "what a racist". The fact is that many cops are assholes. Shocking, I know.

In my opinion, people were reacting more to a system that disproportionally targets minorities regardless of how justified it might have been in this specific situation and the fact that system as it currently operates allows Police to overwhelmingly escape any type of repurcussions for alleged misdeeds. Of course all of that gets drowned out by certain media outlets inciting unrest a la Cartman.

Go look at the crime statistics that were recently released in regards to Fergeson. Minorities were stopped/searched/arrested far more often yet cacausians were more likely to actually be carrying contraband. Additionally, although minorities, as you suggest, may be responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime in relation to other races, the justice systems prosecution of minorities is disproportionate in relation to other races. Using hypothetical numbers. 50 black men get arrested for drug possession. 10 white men get arrested for drug possession. 50% of black men are successfully prosecuted for drug possession. 10% of white men are successfully prosecuted for drug possession. Notice the difference in what I'm talking about and what your talking about?
