Default Can't get past server select

hello there, i've been unable to play since about august / september and now school is on break for a few more weeks and I have been dying to play....I can't get past the server select screen though, it starts to load into character select and kicks me back out to the original log-in information screen over and over...i've made exceptions for the whole folder, and dsetup.dll file in avg, i've uninstalled avg, turned off all firewalls, reinstalled EQ 10+ times, does anyone have the remedy to this problem or might know someone who does? Without my EQ fix i've been so bored and I really miss this good old server, any help would be greatly appreciated as i've tried everything I could think of like 10 times, except for reformatting my whole pc...unless there's one silly thing i'm overlooking

updated patch files? graphics drivers? directx?

also could be a resolution issue. try going into options and setting it to the lowest resolution and then restarting game. set the resolution in game.

aye i've tried to update all the patch files, graphic drivers are up to date as well as directx, i've had no problems with any other games either current or older so i'm halfway baffled at what the problem has been for so long

i suggest the resolution change. maybe run the DUXA isntaller and change the resolution to the lowest possible. just fix it in game, if you are able to get in.

as far as no issues with other games, not surprising. EQ has an overwhelming amount of its own bugs and tricks that still persist today. funny we couldnt fix those pieces of the '1999' experience :P

Same issue here. I get the login screen, then server select. When I select the P99 server it dumps me right back to the login screen, no errors given.

wtf?!?

still have had no luck in logging into the game, i've tried fresh installs and everything really that I could think of about 50 times short of wiping my whole PC just to see if that works, has anyone had the same issue and had any luck as to fixxing it, or might know what I could do to maybe fix this? i've tried fresh installs, duxa and changing the resolutions and full/screen and windowed mode, win eq, using the emu thing to log in, by-passing the emu, changing the shortcuts and making sure all my ports were enabled and nothing was blocked in any of the firewall programs or windows firewall or my antivirus program and everything is unblocked and everquest is an accepted program on all of these, i'm completely stumped and really need to play me some EQ [You must be logged in to view images. I have the same exact issue, however I AM able to login if I do so within moments of starting my computer. If check facebook, my email load up a tv show/movie or any of that nonsense, I will have to reboot in order to login. Really quite annoying.

There is a file that EQ dumps too called dbg.txt file. Its piled into the middle of all the .txt files in your main game folder. It should have something listed and what error occurred.

Example: .........
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:36 2010]00162:LIT data has 0 vertices, expeect it to have 25 vertices, so LIT data is being ignored!
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:36 2010]00329:Loading poknowledge
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:39 2010]00330:Loading objects
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:39 2010]00331:Loading lights
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:39 2010]00332:Initializing cameras.
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:39 2010]00333:Initializing lights.
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:39 2010]00334:Initializing visual effects.
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:40 2010]00335:Initializing target indicator.
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:40 2010]00336:Initializing player path.
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:40 2010]00337[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]erforming post-load operations.
[Fri Feb 26 18:44:40 2010]00163:Requested too many buffered vertices (25498).
........
[Fri Feb 26 18:45:33 2010]00172:Index buffer blocks were not all freed from buffer manager.

[Fri Feb 26 18:45:33 2010]00173:Index buffer blocks were not all freed from buffer manager.

If can post the actual crash logs it would help, but this is how to look and see what happened. There are many reasons EQ could crash/not connect, memory issues is just 1 of them.

You will need your last crash entries, so delete the current dbg.txt, re-log into game wait for the crash open txt file and post the stuff.

i'm not getting a crash message tho, when I click enter project 1999 blue from the server select screen it loads the screen and changes the window like it's going to load into character select for about 1/2 a second and then kicks back out to the screen you type your log-in information in...I Just reformatted my desktop PC and it's still doing the same error, I installed EQ the same way I always do on my brothers laptop that has the same windows 7 with all the same settings through duxa UI and it loaded in the first time, I even copied the brand new working file over to my desktop PC and the same error is still happening, so that narrows down a firewall setting or antivirus blocking it I think, maybe it is some sort of resolution setting or something to do with fullscreen/windowed mode? if anyone has any insight to this it would be greatly appreciated, in the meantime I will try to get that crash file if it posts anything to it I will respond back in a couple minutes after this post
