Is there a damage bonus benefit that comes simply from dual wielding?

In other words, if I give my level 29 fire pet two level 1 summoned daggers, making him dual wield, but not adding the weapon dmg because the weps are too low, will he do more damage by virtue of dual wielding than he would have done had I done nothing at all?

There is: the mob will attack with its off-hand every now and then.

I'd like to see someone pop a mosscovered twig onto their charmed HS pet.

Pet's don't use the delay of a weapon they are given, the delay is set. The only thing a weapon will do is increase the damage (or have them dual wield). So a very low delay weapon would not have any effect.
