Funny you mention Variance, Littlegyno. It wasn't what I was referring to at all. I don't fault you though, as you are not alone in mistaking classic spawns with Variance. Many people seem to have that same misconception.
You see, back on live the servers were new and modifications to adjust the game had to be made much more frequently. Unlike with red 99 that has a final product to reference, and only has to do patches every several months.
On live, servers would patch basically every week and because of this, spawns would not remain stationary for months on end, making it not as favorable for the larger hardcore raiding guilds.
