I'm pretty sure FV had the opposite of this rule set. None of the items were no drop so you could just trade everything.
this is true but i think before that everything was no-drop for a short period of time

it was later changed to be the complete opposite where even planar armor was tradeable and equippable at level 1

there was also something called the trivial loot code in which a mob didnt drop loot unless it was light blue or conned enough to give the personw ho killed it xp

shit is confusing as hell tbh

The bad here is 100% derived from the behavior & attitudes of the people who make up the community, as is the good. There is no silver bullet mechanical solution to the bad. No rule or law has ever transformed an asshat into a mensch.

Trading was such a big part of the classic eq experience. There are people who did more trading than playing.

Plus some camps are awful for some classes and kills pick up group prospects when there is no loot for them there but ample loot for others.
I think current blue is great for those who like to tunnelquest. It's not for me though. I'd prefer to loot my gear and have camps available to level-appropriate toons. I don't like when I go into guk and there are three 60s holding down all the loot camps. The result is, no one groups there. Kinda defeats the purpose of the game imo. But that's just a personal opinion.

Yes, Blue is toxic. The community isn't anything like on live. The sheer hatred and lack of respect for one another is mind blowing considering this is an emulation server that shuts down whenever 3 guys decide to shut it down.

That being said, FV's rule set was amazing. You could trade just about anything. TLC prevent high level characters from camping "stupid" stuff and epic pieces didn't fall under TLC. One character per account was a blessing in disguise.

It also made running a top raiding guild on that server so much easier for me. Loot everything, then do loot at the end of the night.

I played on FV for a while, don't have fond memories. What I remember is an unfriendly player population with lots of little cliques and very little pickup grouping, TLC turning certain quests into a huge pita, and the RMT scandal involving some raid guild(s) leader(s) selling epics & planar armor for RL cash. Lotta selfishness on FV, or so it seemed to me, it was my least favorite community of the servers I played on live.

There would still be an economic system. Selling loot rights would just become more widespread.

you guys are aware the original FV ruleset was highly roleplay based and you couldn't group, guild, buff, or receive buffs from other characters not on your alignment

I wouldn't expect a NODROP server to weed out the filth that plagues the server but rather make the playstyle less rewarding for them. I'm sure loot rights selling would be rampant but I would say if you didn't get the exp it's ffa.
