I don't think there's a lot of skill to leading the top guild on red99. Whichever guild becomes largest first wins on a small pop server like this. Once that top guild is cemented there's effectively no way to topple them regardless of how inept / mean / bad the leadership is. Nihilum became top dog because Holocaust was banned and there were no other options. Founding fathers intentionally did not want to truly contest to be the #1 guild, and holocaust burnt out after the ban. Since Nihilum was the only option, it was either join and get loot despite how the guild was ran, or quit. Without enough people to recruit and the ability of the top guild to lock down all content easily, there's no way to ever upend the top guild other than GM intervention, or a large % of members revolting, which will just end up with most of the members in a similarly large guild but with a different tag and leader.
This isn't to say that Holocaust's leaders are bad, but you could have Abraham Lincoln/Winston Churchil and Sun Tzu leading Fresh and they still aren't ever becoming the top guild on red99. Most people who join this server want only to quickly experience the end game, get their epic, and then quit shortly after. They have no interest in joining an underdog to slay one faydedar and nagafen every 2 and a half weeks with no chance at ever upgrading their character or experiencing VP or other content. They don't care about the forum drama, who stripped who's character, who challenged who to a backlot MMA fight IRL, who RMT'ed or deleted someone's char, who betrayed this guy or joined some guild they never heard of back in 2011. They just want to right click the dragon corpse that they killed back in 1999 and loot that pixel they probably never got the chance to 15 years ago when they were hiding in the school library during lunch.
There is no "marketplace of ideas" on red99 where a guild with a better vision and charter can organically rise up and win. dealwithit.jpg or play a different game.
