Default Xubuntu 15.04 - Wine 1.6.2

Has anyone tried using this combination of distro/wine versions?

- Blank server select, as others have encountered.
- When I do get server, gets halfway through loading bar before character select, and fails with a C++ Runtime Error - "abnormal program termination"

Has anyone else seen similar behaviors?

I'm using 1.6.2 with xubuntu 14.04 and having no issues, black server screen some times but not nearly as much as when i was running on windows.

are you using the script mentioned in this thread by Zallarenya and mgellan??

More or less, yes - I am setting core affinity properly with taskset. I've searched here and at EQEmu and haven't found of anyone having C++ runtime errors when attempting to run the client.

I've also tried using winecfg to override various version of the c++ runtimes to no avail.

Updated kernel and switch to systemd with 15.04, unsure if the issue is rooted that deep, though. Also should mention that I have tried with wine 1.7.38 and have the same behavior.

It should run without much trouble. Its been able to run on my piece of crap netbook for years (through many versions of wine). You just have to edit the client INI file and turn off a bunch of fancier stuff like pixel shaders.

Code:
VertexShaders=0
20PixelShaders=0
14PixelShaders=0
1xPixelShaders=0
MultiPassLighting=FALSE
UseLitBatches=FALSE
WindowedMode=TRUE
TextureCache=FALSE
DoProperTinting=FALSE
Some of these changes might not be necessary, but it runs fine on Wine for me when using those settings. I've been able to get it running in a VirtualBox Ubuntu VM using these settings.

Thanks for the suggestions, Wisteso. Unfortunately, none of them are working. At this time, I'm going to chalk it up to either 1) Ubuntu 15.04 making some changes under the hood that were unfriendly (unless someone gets it up and running on that version), 2) running on an Intel 4400 HD chipset is a problem, or 3) some combination of the two.

Will keep tweaking on it and let you know if I find something that works.

Edit: BTW, this is a screenshot of how far I get into loading, and the error. Music running happily in the background:

Id say try running in the terminal and post a log of whats written to the console right before crashing.

Always run from the terminal, but there didn't seem to be any critical errors. Everything below comes 5-10 seconds before the crash itself.

Perhaps I missed something?
