I just looked this up and learned that my body can give itself hepatitis. It's like we all have an inner low-track whore that could start bleeding all over the place at any moment. I was happier not knowing this. It is also not particularly helpful for me to know that it can be caused by exposure to the fucking star that we're orbiting around because I can not really avoid that.
I find this disgusting and terrifying, thank you for your post.

Well lets talk briefly about why certain people may be sensitive to prolonged direct sun. Keywords here; prolonged and direct. Diffuse sunlight is safe, i.e. sitting in a house with big windows open all day, car rides with no direct contact, standing under trees outside all day, etc. are all of no consequence. Diffuse exposure, no matter the duration is of no consequence typically.
Before inter-breeding, occupation, and colonization by the Roman Empire began, during the initial invasion, Caesar had remarked in his first-contact journals (personal diary) that the Irish/Scots/Celts were incredibly pale. A new kind of white he had never seen before. And he emphasized how they were borderline translucent.
Most American people don't take into account that their ancestors may not have fucked enough Romans/Spanish/Italians during the imperial occupation of the Celt and Anglo territories. If your ancestors didn't mix and mingle with these bright and bronze people, you are even more white than the "white people" so to speak.
Pure breeding (see the Royal crown of Britain, very preserved Anglo-Saxons) are unable to tan, and you can see the Queen retained the translucent white that Caesar was talking about in his journal.
tl;dr In America, the sun was mass marketed as this cool hip thing. That we should all go fry ourselves in a desperate violent attempt to be more like an ethnicity we don't belong to. Science is slowly demonstrating that the sun is not cool at all, it rather sucks.
