I moved out of home with one of my best pals when I was 19 and rented my oldest brother's apartment in a suburb called Redfern. This suburb can be considered far from puritan and I remained there for 3 and a half years. Lots of druggies, lots of beggars, lots of thieves, plenty of domestic violence (I woke up one night to a teenager chucking a tantrum and smashing a door repeatedly with a firehose screaming 'Don't treat my mother like that' psychotically). Now I would go to the city and meet up with pals and get home walking through this shitty suburb at 3am without any fear. Why? I will let you figure that out. After living between Sydney and Melbourne for the next year, I scored an awesome government job and moved to Melbourne for a year and a half. I lived in Collingwood for the first month in a home-office with a guy that worshipped me from being a raid leader in WoW, then moved to King Street. This was a street filled with frequent brawls and violence. I got a motorbike which I parked there and it actually got trashed 2 times in 4 months, which I repaired each time after learning some basic maintenance (it was a naked, suzuki GS500, pretty bulletproof and easy to fix). I was getting girls left right and centre and was even being chased from girls I knew in Sydney. So no, I'm not some dude that married the first chick he's fucked and am blind to reality. I know all about the shit that goes on in the real world, I've spent quite a few years in it. Alot of stuff has happened to me, much worse than anything you guys can do over a video game forum, just an FYI and I am every bit self-made as I am privileged. When I returned to Sydney from Melbourne, I got married (becoming a dad in the process) and moved to my wife's investment unit since my parents couldn't live with my wife and I didn't like living with my in-laws. This unit was located in Fairfield, which is another shitty suburb in Sydney. Wrought with drive-by's and drug-addled streets, it was one of the shittier suburbs I've lived in. I walked everywhere and even cycled there late at night with a massive machete in my backpack. In our unit complex there was a single mum with 2 kids that would cause trouble with everyone, her son got a few mates and tried to intimidate another guy in the unit complex who was renting. The guy was drunk and smashed the kid with a steel pole and he went crying to his mummy (he was 19) who called the cops and got them busted. It was only a matter of time until my wife got on the bad side of that family and became the focus of their pranks. They were playing pranks frequently, but we never caught them in the act. If I did catch them in the act, I woulda smashed the living daylight out of them. They were always friendly and respectful to my face, asking for help with their bicycles since I was always maintaining my bicycle and motorbike on the weekends. My wife decided to file a police report about one of the vandalism acts they did; the police were like 'your husband looks like he could beat the shit out of them, if you catch them in the act, you know what to do; you don't really need to be creating paperwork'. That coming from the cops lol. Needless to say, that someone put a pigs head on one of the bins an hour later. LOL Wasn't intimidated, called some of the other tennants in the complex out who I was friends with and laughed it off because we all knew who it was - also to prove a point, if shit went down and I had to fuck up the people in that unit, they wouldn't testify against me. The following weeks there was a riot between the Sudanese and Assyrian community in Fairfield and at that point, we bit the bullet and moved to our investment property in a wealthier suburb. The reason why we stayed there in the first place was because it was cheap and it was near her parents so they could assist with our son. We now live in a $1000000 house (which we own 80% of) and still have that apartment which we are currently renting out. I have seen shit in the real world and am not afraid to get my hands dirty. You don't quite have me figured out yet folks. Keep trying.
