Yes. He hands the exact same item you hand to him right back to you. You hand him the lute in order to trigger trakanon, but you still need to lute to complete the epic.

I assume the only reason it requires the lute is to make sure only a bard looking for the trak guts could spawn trakanon.

It still might not be as great as I feared. If the Trak is 100% trak, rather than a weakened version like VSR and triggered Fay, then it's going to take a lot of people to take him out. If Trak BPs aren't doing so great as far as PP goes anymore, this might not be as lucrative as I thought.
