Avoiding summons when chaining pets?

Summon has a 10 second refresh on all NPCs.

So what you need to do is cast your new pet, with about 2-3 seconds left on the pets cast, /pet back, wait for the NPC to summon your pet and then /pet go away.

That will force the NPC to run at you instead of immediately summon you. You just need ot make sure you micro your pet effectively and give yourself enough distance between the mob and yourself.
