Default Monk gear (Mid Tier)

First off, I want to send a shout out to Estebahn. He hooked me up with a JC combine when I was left hanging. Much appreciated.

Moving on...
I am more or less broke as a joke, but, I am in search of:

Mid tier monk items. Lighter the better. Cheaper the better. I have ~500p to spend, and relatively nothing to sell (Sm. Bronze BP, Clawed Knuckle Ring, Mesh Gloves). Soon to be selling Left Goblin Ear's for xp/faction in HHK, which is crazy exp (1% per @ lvl 27) for 10p per.

-Already have: EBMace, Platinum Fire Wedding Rings, Azure Sleeves, Exe Hood...everything else is mostly shit.

Especially seeking:
-Werewolf pelt (For Werewolf Hide Cloak)
-Sythraak Vest

I put together a google doc with a really good assembling of *cheap* classic monk gear. Take a look. I have other docs with best-drop items, but this is a decent starting set.

There are better pieces for each slot, but this is a good set of affordable gear...

Awesome. I've been using something quite like this, but this is a bit more effective, as it lists prices as well. Cheers mate.

Hero bracers are a bit heavy for my taste, TBH though. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Do you have an Wu's armor pieces? My AC is currently running over 500 and much of my 25th level monks armor is Wu's. Try doing the Treant fists quest, too.

I do not have any Wu's currently. I am using Gem Inlaid Gauntlets atm, so Treant Fists isn't on my mind.

I need to grab some Wu's shoes (Still wearing cloth, ugh). Also I'm going to seek out a partner to beat down a Werewolf, as the skin+100p = a pretty good quality cloak.

You can get an entire suit of Wu's for probably 200pp.

I agree with everyone on Messianic's list. In fact, I pretty much geared up my Monk that exact way last night (only with Griffon Talons instead of Gem Inlaid Gauntlets, and Foreman's Tunic (weighs nothing) instead of Lock-Jaw vest). With 2x EBM I'm at 21 stones (so without, 12), which isn't bad at all at lower levels.

For 10 str and 9 ac (some minor resists on the side, too), it's worth it [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Compare it with any other available bracers; Granite bracers are probably the only "upgrade" out there before next-expansion stuff...

Entire set of Wu's seems to run about 400pp these days.

As for the Hero Bracers comment, the AC hit that comes from the weight of the Hero Bracers is nothing compared to the benefit from the strength let alone the high base ac of the bracer. I think people talk up the weight penalty a bit too much --- for each stone of weight you go over it only hits you a few ac points. For certain key items you're far better off taking the weight hit than you are using some crappy 4ac 2agi Wu item.

I'm not sweating the weight limit as much as I did on live years ago, but using Wu's allows you the option of having other items or weapons that are heavier. Of course, I'm not using weapons anyway at the moment. That is Classic! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.][You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
