all mobs starting in A1+ summon, But if I am reading this right you are saying A1 should only drop up to knights? Same with alice 2? When knights can be farmed in large amounts by mobs with a quarter of the hp, non summoning maze mobs.

Correct.
The tiers are broken up into 4, as are the cards. The descriptions provided from those posts and from EQMac posts say that each tier has a better card drop. @Colgate - Download GamParse. There is no reason to ever open your log file as a notepad document. Load it into GamParse and do any searching you need in there. I have logs from live EQ over 2 gigabytes in size that I load into GamParse that has no issue loading up and searching.

Load it up, select new fights only so it loads instantly, and use the log search feature.
If you're looking for a looted log, just search the item. If you're curious what that item came from, search for slain messages and if the time stamps match. Or search the timestamp around those looted messages. Etc. It's the best log searcher there is because you don't need to actually open the file to search it.

For large log files, you can use something like gsplit, to split logs into Xsize chunks. This is useful for example you have a 1gb text file, split into 50 20mb files, then have the ability to quickly 'find in files' of the directory.

Nope.
Thrones should be more common... See the examples from AiW comments. They should also drop from more mobs.
