I do it at times, myself, for a quest item drop, tradeskill components, or even just because I want to whack stuff with my dusty old ranger and get a few plats. You do or will too.

It's not only legal, but the mechanics are designed to allow it so. If you remember back to the old FV (RP) server on live, the mechanic there didn't allow for higher level characters to farm lower level mobs, they would get no loot drops over a certain range. I actually like that, but the way it is here is just the way it is/was. It's classic, Bro! As classic as Han never giving Greedo a shot.
