![]() Well, I'm pretty confused. Has anyone else experienced a faction change with the banker in South Qeynos or is it just me? I logged in tonight on a character I've not played in some time. I was a KoS dark elf and worked my faction up in Qeynos over the summer to do my smithing. I can walk around freely/buy/bank except I avoid Hansl Bigroon as he's on a faction nearly impossible to raise (QeynosCitizen faction) and avoid the corrupt guards.
Last time I smithed/was in Qeynos I had no issues. Tonight I ran over and now the banker (Kendall Copperhold) and his guard (Dun) are now scowling at me. The merchants in North Qeynos will sell to me however the ones in South Qeynos are now dubious and won't sell (both are Merchants of Qeynos faction). I've not killed any bankers nor anything on Qeynos faction. Since factioning on this rarely played character I've been to L.guk, Great Divide and Dreadlands killing things there. Has the faction changed for this banker or should he be on the same faction as all bankers? Anyone know why the merchants in South won't sell when the North ones will? Is there a way to build up faction with the banker? I'd use the bank in the sewers but I trashed that faction to build up my Qeynos faction and I do not have faction in any of the plate mold cities other than this. Anyone ideas?

![]() Hmm, that's odd. I don't recall if there was a faction change in SQ back on live or not, but I'd guess no. I'll poke at it with my characters and see if I notice any change and let you know if I do.
For QeynosCitizen though, shouldn't you be able to get wolf form and just turn a ton of rat fur into caps with Menkes?

![]() Oddly enough, I just finished a large chunk of the Qeynos faction crawl on my Iksar Shaman as per this guide: https://www.project1999.com/forums/s...d.php?t=164337. Afterward, I ran around invis targeting mobs, going to ZL, then uninvis'ing and conning them. I noticed the Barbarian "guards" Dun and Eracon Krengon located just out/inside of the bank as well as bankers Sorn and Kendall Copperhold all scowled at me, despite being amiable or better with Merchants and Guards of Qeynos. This surprised me since Arkaan's rather comprehensive guide made no mention of this obstacle. However, my Halas faction is filth which led me to believe Dun and Eracon might be on it (being Barbarian Warriors and knowing my Steel Warriors (that is, Human Warrior) faction is dubious) and the bankers, too, having "hired" them... /roleplay
After a little digging I found the faction "Banker" which apparently existed during the proper timeline for this server. There is a lot of conflicting information on Allakhazam. This post seems pertinent, though: Quote:
My only other guess is the change relates to these two interesting factions listed for Qeynos on the P1999 Wiki: http://wiki.project1999.com/QeynosCitizen and http://wiki.project1999.com/Citizens_of_Qeynos. I'm unclear whether and to what extent either faction exists on this server. Skimming the thread on Allakhazam (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/f...ml?faction=184) suggests perhaps Citizens of Qeynos never existed and it was merely an error on the part of the devs when they first uploaded the Qeynos Citizen info to their site. Additionally, Citizens of Qeynos is not a faction within their searchable database. Searching Google for the phrase "your faction standing with citizensofqeynos" returns only one hit: http://www.tokyo2001.com/game/eq/que...m/storm04.html (second-to-last post on that site). Apparently this hit came from killing Faldor Hendrys, who is listed as not having any faction hits on the P1999 Wiki nor on Allakhazam. However, this post from the Eye of Stormhammer quest link on Allakhazam states: Quote:

![]() I'll look into this shortly. I myself updated the wiki to reflect that it did not exist. Previously it included the two Barbarian guards - Eracon Krengon and Dun - NOT the bankers themselves. Finally, the one part of the quest that gave +Banker faction hit did NOT give the faction hit and instead gave others. I was able to use my faction song to discover that they were on the same faction - I think it was either the Guards or Merhcants of Qeynos. Also, that Iksar posting is from 2002 and I suspect the faction is NOT classic at all but I'll have to look into it. Look at the other posts here http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/f...ml?faction=187 they're discussing the factions of variance bankers throughout Norrath rather than any one single banker. I know Sony did some serious faction streamlining later on.

![]() Using the faction song on Menkes Tabolet by the docks who is on QeynosCitizen brings him to warmly, does not affect Dun, Klengon or the bankers. They've definitely been moved to a new faction, probably Banker. Making a bug report now.

![]() I found a post via another link stating the faction Banker linked to those four mobs as of May 2002 and indeed they conned indifferent then as well. Of course, nothing earlier than Luclin (yet). But that also does not mean they were kos. Unless it can be proven that the faction was changed specifically between Dec '01 and May '02 it would be foolhardy to assume the people posting on that link had access to the correct information. As you will see if you read further, most of the posts from pre-Luclin seemed to come from players who were entirely clueless (admittedly as most of us were at the time).

![]() Wow, what an amazing amount of research going on since I went to bed! Thanks for starting the bug thread.
Thanks for going around and checking faction with everyone, Aalderon. Yeah, it definitely has to be some new faction they're on. Also the merchants out in Qeynos Hills are also on North faction because they still sell to me. I use the faction guide at: http://samanna.net/gen.info/faction.shtml (Which I highly recommend, one of the best I've seen) It has a lot of great info but the problem is it's on version 4.5 with no date associated with it. At some point apparently bankers in towns were associated with the their merchant faction, but that still does not explain the why they have a faction change along with South Qeynos merchants. But then again it mentions Jaggedpine and the port; and the guide has been revised several times so who knows when this happened. Quote:

As for Menkes, fair enough. I suggested wolf form, because I never know who has sneak or not :P I -do- however, remember how much of a pain it can be to get out of scowling with factions that ONLY have turn ins. Pain it is. Hopefully things get figured out and you can resume your smithing!
