![]() I've been playing off and mostly on over the years, but I don't think I've ever noticed this bug. Before I report it, I did some searching and came up nuts. Hopefully someone here knows of it.
Anyhow, my 50-some shaman has a runewood staff and cannot attack a mob. I can turn on auto attack and get close/on top of a mob.. but he will not swing or do any damage whatsoever. I have tried swapping out weapons, no luck. My other toons do not have this issue. Nor has my shaman in the past couple years, until recently. It does recognize auto-attack is on as if i'm too far away from said mob, it will tell me "too far away to attack" etc. Nuking and any casting works fine and is unaffected. I have tried re-booting, zoning etc. nothing works. I noticed this began about a week ago. Again, other toons on the same account are unaffected. I'm guessing a corrupt .ini file? Appreciate any thoughts.

![]() Does it happen with every mob you try to attack ?
I have had this kind of issue happening to me when dragging mobs away from their spawn point into a further safer spot which was also on different Z axis level.

![]() I have experienced this on Red with my cleric. Nothing I could do would allow him to melee a mob. Tired to do so in several zones, vs mobs that I should be able to kill with one hit, nada.
All I can say is that I hope this character isn't your main. I have had a post open about it in the petition forum since November 2015, and it is still unresolved. After I realized I was not going to get an answer or a fix, and all the work of leveling him to 52 was wasted, I ended up stripping him and parking him for emergency rezzes.

![]() It does happen with every mob (almost wanted to try a guard). It won't attack anything.
Bionic, that puts the fear of God in me. I'll look deeper here and elsewhere..

![]() This might seem counter productive, but if you're a class that can dot... get to a zone line, dot yourself to death, but zone across before you die. You won't lose any XP and it might resolve the issue the server has with your character attacking? Assuming it's server side at least.

![]() I thought I read somewhere that this was fixed with WinEQ2 and and related to the game not running as a single threaded application (Which WinEQ2 fixes.)
And as far as I know the multi-core issues only effect AMD cpu's. So taking a massive speculative guess here, but I'd either try WinEQ2 or set the core affinity via the Taskmanager. (It's under details if you have degraded to Win10 and wondering where the option to change the processes affinity is.)

![]() Did you try clearing your target window and re-targetting?

![]() This happens if you use a macro to /target something and only click on whatever target you want to attack afterwards (for instance if you have a healing macro that targets yourself or a pet and then you target the mob with a mouse click). You have to clear your /target with Esc before you'll be able to attack the mob.
